What a Character!

Recommended Site This site is dedicated to “The Names You Don’t Remember, The Faces You Can’t Forget” – yes, those wonderful, wacky character actors. You can search by name (first name or last) or TV, film or guest appearance or by certain programs (Star Trek, M*A*S*H*, The X-Files, etc.). The first page alone showcases actors from John Abbott to Elvia Allman – not big names but Hollywood wouldn’t have been the same without these talented thespians. There are also several links on the first page. News takes you to an archive where, sadly, most of the reports are obituaries (the most recent for David Dukes, Richard Farnsworth and Nancy Marchand). The Links page(s) has an eclectic collection of sites – from “the ultimate guide to UK cinema” to the “Broken Wheel Ranch – dedicated to the TV show Fury.” The Trivia page is a lot of fun. Did you know that Nancy Walker (who played Rhoda’s mother as well as “Rosie” the Bounty paper towel pitchwoman) directed Can’t Stop the Music starring The Village People? Me neither. There’s also a nifty little interview page with actors such as Bill Daily (I Dream of Jeannie, Bob Newhart) to Bruce Hyde (Lt. Kevin Riley on Star Trek). This is a delightful site and, just like the actors and actresses it spotlights, deserving of your attention. (Vol. 2, Issue 3)
