The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert! What really gave this film substance, for me, was the dynamic between the characters played so well by Weaving, Stamp and Pearce. Another wonderful aspect of Priscilla was the meeting of semmingly disparate elements of the Australian social landscape – Outback culture, the drag scene and ABBA mania. The ABBA craze was so rife in 70s Aus that it has been referenced in more than one film. (See also, Muriel’s Wedding).
